Today we are launching a campaign called “ HeForShe .” I am reaching out to you because I need your help. We want to end gender inequality—and to do that we need everyone to be involved. This is the first campaign of its kind at the UN: we want to try and galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for gender equality. And we don’t just want to talk about it but make sure it is tangible. I was appointed six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism the more I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. Özgür Gültekin, sohbetini çok sevdiğim bir hocam. Zaman zaman başından geçen olaylardan, insanlarla olan ilişkilerinden bahseder sosyal medya paylaşımlarında. I am the sum of all the experiences that make up the genetic make of my life with which I came into the world. Of these experiences some were good, some bad but all were mine. Now, I am who I deserve to be. My life, my status and the effect to my environment are all reflections of the choices I made. If I am not completely who I should be, this is but of my choice that I didn’t want to reach higher. I am determined, not to live in the past that I can’t change or lose time waiting for the future that I can’t guarantee but to live in the reality of everything I own today. “Bugün dünyanın en iyi üniversitelerinden birinin diploma töreninde sizlerle birlikte olmaktan onur duyuyorum. Ben üniversiteden hiç mezun olmadım. Doğruyu söylemek gerekirse, mezuniyete en yaklaştığım an da bu an! Sizlere hayatımla ilgili üç hikaye anlatacağım. Hepsi bu. Büyütülecek birşey değil.
